Crutches4Africa is a District 5960 sponsored project organized by Stillwater Sunrise Rotary; Hudson Daybreak Rotary is a partner. This year, mobility devices are being collected for use in Mexico, as sending to Africa is not possible at this time. There are several opportunities to support this initiative:
Wednesday, May 27 (time TBA): Trucks and trailers are needed to pick up mobility devices in Glenwood City, Baldwin, Osceola, and Hudson and deliver them to John Duntley’s pole barn for storage.
Saturday, June 6, starting at 9 am: Trucks and trailers are needed to transfer the mobility devices from John Duntley’s pole barn to Stillwater.
We also need helpers to help load and unload the trucks and trailers on both dates. If you have a truck/trailer or can help load/unload devices on either date, please contact Linda Robertson: lindainhudson@icloud.com or text 651-341-1095.
If you have small mobility devices that you wish to donate, bring them to the May 20th meeting and give them to Linda.
Rotary Friendship Exchange
This summer, our Club is hosting a Rotary team from Argentina. We have a responsibility to cover lodging and transportation from June 7th - 10th. There are 10 in the exchange, ranging in age from 30 to 80. 2 sets are couples, and 6 are single (They can share a room as long as there are separate beds). Please check your calendars for your availability and let Rob Howard know! This is an opportunity to grow your international experience in Rotary.
April Student of the Month
Congratulations to one of our April Students of the Month, Ben Beucler. Ben was unable to join us at an HDR meeting, but was very honored to receive our Student of the Month recognition.
Ben was a captain on the boys' basketball team this year and has played every year since the youth level. He helps with the youth basketball programs and volunteers at his church.
In the fall, Ben plans to attend Minnesota State University-Mankato. He is still exploring his options for a major field of study.
Congrats, Ben!

Taste of the Valley is this week, and we need the help of our fellow Rotarians to fill volunteer spots for this year’s event! We have volunteer opportunities available the day before, the day of, and the day after the event.

Hunger in western Wisconsin is increasing at a pace that the current food system can no longer meet. More than 20,750 residents across St. Croix, Pierce, Polk, and Burnett counties experience food insecurity, including nearly 5,700 children.
Today, local food programs receive approximately 80% of their food directly from the St. Croix Valley Food Bank, making the SCVFB a cornerstone of hunger relief across the region.
Please join other Rotarians for this upcoming food packing opportunity at the St. Croix Valley Food Bank. And please invite your friends and family as we work to end hunger in western Wisconsin.

We have an opportunity in the upcoming months to deliver meals to New Richmond Grace Place. Rotarians will pick up the meal at Camp St. Croix Cafeteria at 4:30 pm and deliver to Grace Place by 5:00.
Last week, HDR toured the Alliance Center to learn about the nonprofits that utilize the space and how they support the Hudson area community. Thank you to the St. Croix Valley Foundation, Operation HELP, and the Fresh Harvest Food Pantry for providing such an insightful meeting!
